Website design is not dissimilar from developing a strategic plan. With strategic planning the process demands that you plan to plan. Failure to map out the process - to map the steps to be taken, to develop timelines, agree on responsibilities, and so on - invariably results in a drawn out process, delays, rework, frustration, disinterest, and low quality outcomes.

The big advantage of a web site is that anyone can access it any time they like. But only if the know of its existence. The trick is to make people aware of the web site, to remind them of the web site address, and to encourage them to visit the site (for additional information, free downloads, white papers, etc.). Individual Members' Survey: A Snapshot In Time

NZIM Central has been conducting surveys of individual members for some years. So what does the latest survey tell us? Well, first of all, and I guess its safe to say this, members are passionate about NZIM. Survey replies come back very quickly. Indeed, within an hour or two of being e-mailed, replies start coming back. By the end of the first day around one third of the completed QUESTIONNAIRE had been received (by the close of day three some two thirds) and some 32% of our individual members replied. This is very pleasing, particularly as the Marketing Department at Victoria University advise us that 3% - 4% is the norm for a web based survey of this kind. And just to finalise the overall stats, the survey elicited some 266 replies. More ....
